Japan-Qatar Summit Meeting

On February 20, Prime Minister Abe held talks with His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.

Japan-Laos Summit Meeting
On March 6, Prime Minister Abe attended a summit meeting and other events with H.E. Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Japan-Poland Summit Meeting
On February 27, Prime Minister Abe attended a summit meeting and other events with H.E. Mr. Bronisław Komorowski, the President of the Republic of Poland.

Japan-Germany Summit Meeting

On March 9, Prime Minister Abe attended a summit meeting and other events with H.E. Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Memorial Ceremony Marking the Fourth Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake
On March 11, Prime Minister Abe attended the memorial ceremony marking the fourth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake held in Tokyo in the presence of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan. He said: “The calamity that resulted from the earthquake has been an unprecedented national crisis. However, our forefathers overcame many difficulties and, each time, stood up much stronger. All of us must follow in their footsteps, and I would like to make a pledge to continue to move forward, together, for the generations to come.”

Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
On March 14, Prime Minister Abe attended the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and other events held in Sendai City. He said: “I would like to again express my appreciation for the assistance extended from all over the world since the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake four years ago. Thanks to this assistance, reconstruction is making rapid progress. I hope you will take this opportunity to witness the vigorous reconstruction of Tohoku.”
